“illume” as the name indicates, was founded to help companies shed light on new markets and opportunities. It was founded in 2005, under the name of Island Telecom Consulting to help companies dealing with the issue of rapidly changing telecoms, technology and media markets.

Matthew Townend who founded the company, had been involved in the early IP, VOIP and Media delivery markets. He recognised the need for practical research, consultancy and interim management to help companies drive their business models. He also recognised the need for a company, which shares the objectives and passions of its clients and could offer a real energy and attitude to make things happen.

Matthew had been disappointed by the research and consultancy available to players in the market, and found the 1000 foot view of most analysts and Consultancy companies was of limited value. He found that often customers wanted help with both the strategic direction and practical skills in executing these plans. Therefore Illume has built a strong team of people, partners and a strong set of market relationships that can really help companies execute their plans.

From its initial formation, illume has built a strong reputation and customer base, by offering practical advice and research delivered by people with real life experience of the markets they are advising on.
